The cabbage diet is one of the best methods of losing weight quickly. This diet is a seven days diet and it claims that it is possible to achieve quite a significant weigh reduction in that one week. Some people lose as much as 10 pounds in just one week.

The concept of the cabbage soup diet is quite simple. The diet reduces the daily calorie intake to around 50 percent of the daily norm. In addition to that, the food you consume is very high in fiber. While on this diet, you are allowed to eat as much cabbage soup as you'd like with some specific foods and you need to drink large amounts of water.

Here is the list of ingredients for the cabbage soup:

  • Green onions (6 large onions)
  • Green peppers (2 large green peppers)
  • Diced tomatoes (diced canned tomatoes, 1 or 2 cans)
  • Celery (1 bunch)
  • Lipton onion soup mix (1 package)
  • Bullion cubes (1 or 2)
  • Cabbage (1 head)

Cooking the cabbage soup is quite easy. Boil the above ingredients for 10 minutes and let is simmer until vegetables are tender. Add salt and pepper to your taste.

The 7 day cabbage diet plan (the soup can be eaten on each day):

  • Day 1: Fruits (no bananas), drink water or cranberry juice.
  • Day 2: Soup, vegetables (cooked and raw but no peas, beans, or corns), drink water.
  • Day 3: Mix of the first and second days. Avoid potatoes.
  • Day 4: Bananas and skimmed milk.
  • Day 5: Beef and tomatoes. Beef can be substituted by chicken if desired.
  • Day 6: Beef and leafy green vegetables.
  • Day 7: Brown rice, vegetables and unsweetened juice.
