Healthy diet is a balanced diet. And this means that the products from the five basic food groups have to be part of your meals. The five groups are: grains, vegetables, fruits, diary, and meat (or meat alternatives). Daily serving recommendations for each food group depend on factors as your age and your activity levels. You should avoid eating fast food as it is loaded with saturated fats. The foods that are high in sodium should be avoided too as they cause the body to retain water and this might result in an increased blood pressure. The processed foods are loaded with trans fats (hydrogenated oil is an example) and trans fats are not good for the heart. Drinking too much soft drinks is not good either as they contain loads of sugar and caffeine. Eating healthy means eating fruits and vegetables instead of junk food. Some fruits and vegetables will even cause you to lose weight as they contain negative calories (negative calorie foods are those that makes the body to burn more calories than they contain) while giving you the feeling of fullness. | ||
